The practices with respect to personal information collected and used in connection with the desktop application Exponent API© (the "App") are governed by this online privacy policy (the "Privacy Policy"). If you have objections to the Privacy Policy, you should immediately discontinue use of the App. To the extent that any terms of the Privacy Policy conflict with the terms of an existing agreement between you and API Forensics regarding the use of specific products and services, the terms of such agreements shall govern.
The App is designed for registered users (account holders) of email accounts provided by, and belonging to, third party cloud email services providers (such as Google/Gmail, Microsoft/Outlook and other third party email service providers), including any other persons authorized to access said accounts, to download email messages and their attachments for offline viewing using a third party Windows application capable of reading .EML formatted files. The App is restricted to read-only access only. This means that the App can only view and download emails. The App, will at NO time, alter, edit or delete emails or portions thereof.
In using the App, the User is asked only for the email account username (e.g., email address) and the password associated with the account. These credentials are the only personal information that are explicitly collected by the App. Please note that the credentials are not stored or saved anywhere by default. The following summarizes how emails are collected and what information may be retrieved from messages:
1. Users can opt to download any or all emails, including their attachments.
2. The App uses properties and metadata about the emails to aid the User in viewing information about the messages identified and/or downloaded.
3. The App only allows the User to download the emails to the local computer for offline viewing.
4. The App provides the User with options to limit the number of messages downloaded by allowing the User to filter on keywords found in the various metadata for each message. This includes the SUBJECT, TO, CC, BCC, HEADERS, attachment filenames, date sent and the content (body) of the message.
5. The contents of emails and their attachments, at the election of the User, can be stored inside an X-Ways Forensics© case file for further review. To this extent, the App will retrieve and display the Subject field and any names and email addressess belonging to the Recipeint fields (TO, CC, BCC) of email messages for the purpose of allowing the User to peruse and review the identified and/or downloaded messages. Other metadata, including the entire email and attachments are capable of being stored inside the X-Ways Forensics© case file.
6. The App only facilitates the retrieveal of messages in their entirety, with the option to exclude attachments for disk spacing considerations.
7. The App will allow the User to store downloaded emails to their local computer in .EML format, in a destination folder of their choosing.
The User of the App can decide if email messages are downloaded to the User's computer in .EML format.
The User also has the option to save copies of the emails, in .EML format, inside of an X-Ways Forensics© case file for further review.
To the extent of both of these options, information, pertaining to the metadata or contents of any emails collected, is NEVER distributed or shared outside to any third party or held onto by the App.
The collection of emails is done using secure (SSL/TLS) connections to select IMAP servers belonging to the associated service providers (e.g., Google/Gmail, Microsoft/Outlook, Yahoo, Zoho, AOL).
The local storage location of any downloaded emails is under the complete control of the User of the App.
The App does not expose any information collected through hooks or home grown APIs.
Absolutely not! Under no circumstances will the App disclose or share information collected or used in the collection of emails.
We do not include or offer third party products or services inside the App.
Because we value your privacy we have taken the necessary precautions to be in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. We therefore will not distribute personal information to outside parties without your consent.
